Once A Dewdrop:
Essays on the Poetry of Parvin E`tesami
Heshmat Moayyad, editor
In 1985 Mazda Publishers published the book A Nightingale's Lament: Selections from the
Poems and Fables of Parvin E`tesami. This was the first full-scale introduction of Parvin
and her poetry in English, and was followed by an edition of her Divan with a new
introduction and a first bibliography. Parvin has attracted the attention of literary
scholars who have devoted many articles to the study of her poetry and thought during
recent years in Iran and abroad. While most of these studies are written in Persian and
are therefore not easily accessible to non-Persian readers, the present volume attempts to
fill this gap by offering penetrating analytical essays in English on the poetry of Parvin
by nine scholars.

Parvin, never translated before, and several photographs from her family's album.
